1. How to Enter

Residents of Canada can participate in the RBC Local Hockey Leaders program (the “Program”) run by Royal Bank of Canada by accessing the website at www.rbcinsurance.com or www.rbclocalhockeyleaders.com. To nominate your selection for the Program, simply complete the information requested on the Nomination Form and include a short paragraph (minimum of 50 words) on the reasons why your nominee should be appointed a Local Hockey Leader and describe the impact they have had in their community.

All eligible nominees for the Program will have their names listed in a place of honour in the Hockey Hall of Fame during 2010. 

By submitting a nomination you confirm that the nominee has consented to the use of their name for this purpose by Royal Bank of Canada.

The contest begins at 12:01 am (E.S.T.) on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 and ends at 11:59 pm (E.S.T.) Friday, April 9, 2010. All mail entries must be postmarked by April 9, 2010.

NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY.

2. Selection of Winners

Out of the eligible nominees, a total of thirteen (13) finalists will be put forward to be designated as RBC Local Hockey Leaders Winners: one (1) from each of the 13 Hockey Canada regional areas across Canada (unless there are no eligible nominees from one or more designated regions in which case finalists may be selected from other designated regions). 

The 13 finalists will be selected by a panel of community and hockey representatives (“Program Judges”). Eligible nominees will be selected based on nomination information provided by the nominators.

The 13 finalists will be contacted on or about April 30, 2010 to confirm details of the nomination and eligibility.  If a finalist cannot be contacted within five (5) days Royal Bank of Canada reserves the right to disqualify the finalist and select another finalist.   Provided a finalist is contacted, meets all of the Program requirements and agrees to abide to these Rules and Regulations, the finalist will be declared the winner of the RBC Local Hockey Leaders program or 'Winner'. The public announcement of the 13 selected Winners is expected to be held on May 9, 2010 at the RBC^® Cup.

In cases where individuals are nominated by multiple submissions, one representative submission will be chosen to represent the candidacy.

The Program Judges will select the 13 finalists using the following criteria as guidelines:

• Proven dedication to community through hockey



• Positive impact on hockey and hockey players in their community



• Dependability, enthusiasm and leadership



• Acting as a positive role model to others



• High level of commitment

3. PRIVACY

By entering the Program nominators give Royal Bank of Canada and its subsidiaries, its agencies and any publishers or other interested media in perpetuity, a license to reproduce, copy, transmit, publicly display, edit, reformat, publish or otherwise use their nomination and personal information, including names and home town in connection with the Program, or to refrain from so doing, in promoting the Program in any media whatsoever.  Further, the Program nominators agree that all rights to their submissions, including copyrights and moral rights, will be irrevocably assigned to Royal Bank of Canada and its subsidiaries to be used by them for any purpose it deems appropriate and that the nominee, should they become a winner, will be required to sign an assignment and release of these rights prior to accepting the prize.

By entering the contest and/or accepting a prize, each nominator and Winner, as  applicable, authorizes Royal Bank of Canada, the use of his/her name, photograph image, voice and/or city of residence without compensation, in any publicity or advertising carried out by Royal Bank of Canada or its subsidiaries.

The Program Judges will contact the nominees who become finalists for approval and to confirm their contribution to local hockey programs prior to contacting any non-public third party sources or references.

Information collected from nominators about themselves and the nominees is subject to Royal Bank of Canada’s privacy policy. By entering information on the Program entry form, you consent to the collection and use of information to administer, implement and fulfill the Program and for the purpose of sending invitations to attend congratulatory events.  The nominator also confirms that they have the consent of the nominee to submit their information to Royal Bank of Canada for the purpose of administering this contest and related publicity.

4. Prizes and Donations

There are a total of thirteen (13) prizes to be awarded. Each prize will consist of a place of honour in the Hockey Hall of Fame and a signed Team Canada Jersey with a total value of $375.00. In addition, a donation of $10,000.00 will be made in each winner’s name to fund a local charitable, non-profit hockey program of the winner’s choice which meets the criteria set out below.

Total value of the prizes awarded to all Local Hockey Leaders for Team Canada Jerseys is $4,875.00. Total Donation by RBC to local charitable, non-profit hockey programs is $130,000.00.

5. Eligibility

In order to qualify as an eligible nominee, the nominee needs to be a resident of Canada who has or will have reached the age of 13 by March 1, 2010 at 12:01 am (EST), shall not be an employee of the Sponsor and its affiliates and each of their respective independent contest agencies and promotional agencies, member of the immediate families of such employees or representatives, or anyone domiciled with any of the foregoing employees, directors, principals, officers or contractors. Any entrant under the age of sixteen will be required to provide parental consent as provided for within the entry form. For the purposes of this Program, “immediate family” is defined as parent, sibling, child or any person residing in the same household as, or domiciled with, any such employees or representatives.

Individuals in Canada who volunteer their time to create playing opportunities and who ensure that hockey is a positive experience in their community may be nominated to become a candidate for the RBC Local Hockey Leaders program. To be eligible, nominees must be in good standing with their local hockey association throughout the nomination, selection and award period. Any individual who has been awarded a RBC Foundation^® Hockey prize in the past seven (7) years is not eligible to win a prize in the 2010 RBC Local Hockey Leaders program. Winners may not be an employee or representative of Royal Bank of Canada their respective subsidiaries and promotional agencies or members of the immediate families of such employees or representatives and persons with whom such employees and representatives are domiciled. For the purposes of this Program, “immediate family” is defined as parent, sibling, child or any person residing in the same household as, or domiciled with, any such employees or representatives.

All eligible nominees for the RBC Local Hockey Leaders program will have their name listed in a place of honour in the Hockey Hall of Fame during 2010.

6. Nominate an RBC Employee as a Local Hockey Leader

7. Donation Recipients

The local hockey charity selected by the Winner must be a non-profit charitable organization operated by a registered athletic association. The Winner’s choice is subject to approval under Royal Bank of Canada charitable giving guidelines. If a Winner’s original choice is not approved according to the Program rules, another eligible local non-profit hockey cause will be selected jointly by the Winner and RBC.

8. Release for Nominators and Winners

By entering this Program and accepting a prize, the nominator and Winner, respectively, absolve Royal Bank of Canada, its subsidiaries, successors, assigns, officers, employees, directors, servants, associates, affiliates, promotional agencies, agents, contractors, suppliers of prizes from any and all liability for harm they may suffer as a result of participation in the Program, compliance or non-compliance with Program rules and acceptance and use of their prize. Potential Winners will be required to sign a Declaration of Compliance with the Program Rules, Publicity Release and a Release of Liability form before being declared a winner.
Declaration and Release documents will be faxed (if selected entrant has a fax number) or mailed to selected entrants, and must be returned by fax (to the number indicated on the Declaration and Release form) within five (5) business days of the date on the Declaration and Release form, or by mail, to be postmarked no later than five (5) business days from the date on the Declaration and Release form. Once the Declaration and Release documents are completed, signed and received by Royal Bank of Canada or its representatives, the winner will be contacted regarding arrangements for the prize. If the winner is under the age of majority in the province or territory of residence, the Release Form must be signed by a parent or guardian. Donations will only be provided to Royal Bank of Canada approved community non-profit hockey causes.

9. Limitation of Liability

Royal Bank of Canada, its successors, agents, assigns, officers, employees, directors, servants and associates assume no responsibility or liability arising from or in any way related to this contest or the acceptance or use of the prizes awarded. Royal Bank of Canada and its agents and assigns are not responsible for lost or misplaced nominations, technical, internet, hardware, software or telephone malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, which may limit the ability to participate or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in this Program. Subject to approval by the Regie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Quebec, if for any reason whatsoever (including, but not limited to, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other cause beyond the control of Royal Bank of Canada, which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this contest), the Program is not capable of being conducted as described in these rules, Royal Bank of Canada shall have the right, at their sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify (including extending the deadline for nominations) or suspend the Program.

10. Applicable Law

This Program is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations of Canada.

11. Winners’ Names

To receive a list of winners’ names, send a sufficiently stamped self-addressed envelope to ‘RBC LOCAL HOCKEY LEADERS WINNERS’, 250 The Esplanade, Suite 306, Toronto, Ontario, M5A 1J2.

12. General

a)By entering, entrants agree to abide by the Program rules and decisions of the program judges, which shall be final with respect to all aspects of the Program, including without limitation, eligibility of entries and nominees. In the case of Quebec residents, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

b)All entries become the property of Royal Bank of Canada and will not be returned. Royal Bank of Canada is not responsible for any lost, misdirected or delayed entries.

c)Prizes must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions. Prizes are non-transferable, are not redeemable for cash. Royal Bank of Canada reserves the right in its sole discretion, to award a substitute prize of equal or greater value, in the event that a prize cannot be awarded as described for whatever reason.
