Corey Curtis, Port Alberni, British Columbia
"RBC's Own" Local Hockey Leader
(employee contest winner)
Port
Alberni and RBC Royal Bank employee Corey Curtis, a hockey
volunteer who dedicates his time to minor hockey, has earned
special recognition in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
As outlined in a nomination essay submitted by fellow RBC
employee Jasmine Morgan, Curtis shows a remarkable commitment
to the youth in his community, whether it be through coaching
(with a Bantam rep team), administration (Vice President for
Alberni Minor Hockey), or scouting (for the Major Junior Kelowna
Rockets).
"Corey is truly dedicated to the promotion, sustainability,
and future of minor hockey in the Alberni Valley," said fellow
RBC employee Jasmine Morgan in a nomination essay. "He coaches
a Bantam team, serves on the Alberni Minor Hockey executive,
is on the Board of Director's for Kidsport BC, set up a mentoring
program for our local junior teams, and even scouts for the
Kelowna Rockets."
Recognizing an RBC employee in addition to 13 regional winners
representing the Hockey Canada branches has become an important
part of the RBC Local Hockey Leaders program.
"RBC Insurance is proud to recognize truly dedicated hockey
volunteers like Corey Curtis," said Neil Skelding, President
and CEO, RBC Insurance. "Hockey is a way of life in many Canadian
communities, and this simply wouldn't happen without volunteers."
