(employee contest winner)
Thousands of RBC employees volunteer their time to make hockey happen in their communities. This year’s RBC’s Own Local Hockey Leader, Tony Infante, deserves special recognition.
A dedicated coach since 1976, Infante has helped hundreds of area youth develop as people and as hockey players.
“Tony not only coaches, but also assists all new coaches with he encounters as a mentor,” said Montreal’s Julie Savoie in a nomination essay. “This has enabled him to share the knowledge he has acquired in more than 30 years of coaching. Tony’s dedication to hockey is an inspiration.”
Currently a volunteer Les Braves D’Ahuntsic hockey committee, Infante’s dedication has also made an impact in his day job.
“Tony has a lot of positive influence on the children he coaches, and brings his coaching techniques and teamwork competencies everywhere he goes,” added Savoie. “Not only does his passion have a positive impact on the kids, but it also has one on his colleagues at work.”
As part of being named as an RBC Local Hockey Leader, Infante will be featured in a permanent exhibit at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
“RBC Insurance is proud to continue the tradition of recognizing truly dedicated hockey volunteers like Tony Infante,” said Neil Skelding, President and CEO, RBC Insurance. “Hockey is a way of life in many Canadian communities, and volunteers are the engines that keep it running.”
